Day 11 (17.02.2007)
Today I originally wanted to go to the Temple of Heaven. It was quite late and so I went to the Tiananmen Square to see it more detailed. At the Tiananmen Square there are the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Museum of Chinese History and the Museum of Chinese Revolution, the Great Hall of the People and the Mao Mausoleum. I went south to the Qianmen (Front Gate) which I did not visit before. It is a nice typical Chinese gate. South of the Front Gate there is the Archery Tower. Near the Front Gate and the Archery Tower there is the Old Train Station. Afterwards I walked to the Wangfujing, Beijing's main shopping street. A huge bookstore with many Chinese books was very interesting for me. I also found a bookstore with foreign books and Chinese and foreign music. On the Wangfujing there is also the huge Oriental Plaza (shopping mall). Then I went back to the campus.
