Day 32 (10.03.2007)
Today I visited the Biyunsi (Temple of the Azure Clouds). First I had to enter the Xiangshan Gongyuan (Fragrant Hills Park), but this time through the North Gate. First the Biyunsi was the residence of an official and in 1366 (Yuan Dynasty) it turned into a nunnery. In 1748 Emperor Qianlong let build the Vajra Pagoda with the 5 towers and the Hall of 500 Luohan. One enters the Biyunsi through a stone bridge. After passing a few courtyards and halls I arrived at the Sun Yatsen (1866 - 1925) Memorial Hall. There is a sculpture of Sun Yatsen. Later I visited and went upstairs the Vajra Pagoda with the 5 towers. It is 34.7 m high. On the way back I visited the Hall of 500 Luohan. It is interesting to see so many figures at once. After I left the Biyunsi I discovered a nice lake with a pavilion in the Xiangshan Gongyuan. Later I went back to the university.
