My China Study Stay (February - May 2007)
After I went to China for the first time in March 2006 I wanted to go to China again in order to improve my Chinese. This study stay was very interesting, because I traveled alone and I had enough time to discover everything. I had also the opportunity to experience Chinese everyday life and to see things that normal tourists do not see. I am very interested in Chinese history and culture and so I went to many sights where foreigners are rare and there I talked to many Chinese and became acquainted with some of them. The Chinese are very sociable. I found several friends in Beijing. During my study stay we practised mutually German/English and Chinese. I will describe the days when I visited interesting sights. During the week I went to the Chinese lessons at the Beijing Language and Culture University and I studied Chinese alone or together with my Chinese friends. I also took lessons in Chinese Calligraphy. In China calligraphy is still an important part of Chinese art and culture. The atmosphere at the university was very interesting, because one could meet students from all over the world. In my class there were students from: Ecuador, Germany (not only me), Great Britain, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. During my study stay I also traveled through Xinjiang.
