Day 2 (22.11.2007)

In the morning I went to the Wenshu Temple. This temple was founded in the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). The buildings of the temple together with the nice South Chinese vegetation of the gardens generate a very nice atmosphere. Afterwards I left the temple and I walked through the streets of the metropolis Chengdu. The next sight I visited was the Tomb of Wang Jian. In 891 Wang Jian was designated military governor of West Sichuan by the Tang Dynasty. After the end of the Tang Dynasty in 907, he had founded the State of the Former Shu and he became the emperor of this state. The territory of the Former Shu contained large parts of present-day Sichuan and parts of some neighbouring provinces. Chengdu was the capital of the Former Shu. Wang Jian died in 918. Afterwards I went to the Thatched Cottage of Du Fu. Du Fu (712 - 770) was a very famous Chinese poet and he lived during the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). Beyond that he was an official in the Tang Capital Changan. The park with the Thatched Cottage of Du Fu is landscaped very nice.
