Day 6 (26.11.2007)

Today I went sightseeing in Kunming, the provincial capital of Yunnan. Yunnan is located in South China and borders the Southeast Asian countries Burma, Laos and Vietnam. Yunnan has got the most ethnic minorities in China. Kunming is situated on an elevation of 1890 m. On my walk from the hotel to the Yuantong Temple I saw a little bit of the city. The Yuantong Temple was founded in the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). In the Yuantong Temple there is a pond and in the center of the pond there is an octagonal pavilion. It is really a nice Buddhist temple. In the pond I even saw a turtle. Afterwards I left the temple and I went to the Cuihu Park. Later I went to the both pagodas from the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). First I visited the Pagoda of the West Temple and afterwards the Pagoda of the East Temple. On the way from the Pagoda of the West Temple to the Pagoda of the East Temple I discovered a nice large gate, the Jinrilou.
