The MiG-21 is an airplane with a great history. The first MiG-21 were built in the end of the 50th. It is a light light figther with one seat. There exist many versions of this airplane and it is modernize. The first version, the MiG-21F is technical and optical different from the last version the MiG-21bis. Because it is a Russian airplane it was used during the "Cold War" in the "Warsaw Pact". Today not only Eastern European countries use the MiG-21, but also many Asian and African countries. So this airplane is used in poor countries. But the MiG-21 has got a great history. It is the most build jet of the world, it flies sine over 40 years and there is not any end. The reason is that countries which use the MiG-21 cannot buy newer airplanes, because they are to expensive so they use this airplane and nurse it. On the whole world 3,000 of this airplane fly. The MiG-21 is not as goog as modern figthers, but in fromer times the MiG-21 was not only good for the east, but also for the west. The fighter which corresponded to the MiG-21 in the west was the F-104 Starfighter, but it had got many accidents. The NATO Code for the MiG-21 is "Fishbed". The MiG-21 was in the Vietnam war.
