Hemimorphite


Hemimorphite

Hemimorphite has got the chemical formula Zn4[(OH)2|Si2O7] * H2O and so it is a silicate. It has got a hardness of 5 and it crystallizes in the rhombical system. Often hemimorphite crystals has got the form of a board, but hemimorphite can also be found in form of irregular pieces. Hemimorphite crystals are mostly transparent. Zinc is made of hemimorphite and so hemimorphite is a very important zinc ore. Hemimorphite can be found in China, in Russia, in Mexico, in Austria and in the USA.
