Rock salt

Rock salt has got the chemical formula NaCl. Another name for Rock salt is Halite. Usually the rock salt crystals are cubes. It is often colorless, but other substances in the Rock salt can cause other colors like red. Caused by radioactive radiation Rock salt can also be blue and violett. For people Rock salt is very important, because cleaned Rock salt is what we call common salt or food salt. Rock salt is water-soluble so Rock salt crystals should not be washed with water. Because of the water solubility NaCl (sodium chloride) is solved in seas. Industrial it is taken from Rock salt stores or from the sea. Not only commen salt is made of Rock salt, but also sodium and chlorine for the chemical industry. Rock salt can be found in many countries. Some important places with Rock salt are in the USA, in Peru, in Germany, in Austria and in Spain.
